Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 10 ~ Issue 9

Abstract

This paper proposes a Genetic Algorithm (GA) to solve the permutation flowshop scheduling problem with the makespan criterion. The problem has important applications in industrial systems. The main contribution of this study is due to the fact that new genetic operators were used such as mutation operator which intensifies the search to find good solutions and a new intensification criteria to escape from local minima. In addition, The GA is not hybridized as does most of the resolution methods used recently to solve the problem. The GA took into account the diversification and intensification of the search to solve the problem. Computational experiments are reported for the literature instances and the obtained results are compared with other techniques.

Pre-service teachers' technology skills and its effects in using technology for instruction: In pursuit for quality teacher training
Bernard Wiafe Akaadom (PhD)
Brazil
Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 10 ~ Issue 9

Abstract

The use of technology for instruction is gaining widespread recognition because educators now believe in the potency of technology and how it affects teaching and learning positively. To be able to use technology effectively for instruction, teachers must have the knowledge and technical ability to use technology for instructional delivery. The purpose of this study therefore was to investigate into pre-service teachers' technical ability to use technology and its effect for instruction. The study is located in the pragmatist paradigm which followed a mixed methods approach using a concurrent triangulation design. A stratified random sample of 417 pre-service teachers were drawn from eight teacher colleges of education as well as a purposive sample of four tutors of teaching technology related courses and four tutors handling other courses participated in the study. Four student focus groups consisting of ten students in each group also provided data qualitative data for the study. The study used....

COVID-19 pandemic: A review and update in Zimbabwe
Thulani Ndhlovu

Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 10 ~ Issue 9

Abstract

The aim of this article is to identify and summarise information on the characteristics of SARS CoV-2 to enable policy makersdevice ways of reducing the spread and subsequently contain the outbreak. Many researchers have discovered that SARS CoV-2 falls under the beta coronavirus family sub group. COVID-19 uses the angiotensin converting enzyme as the receptor in the host. COVID-19 is highly contagious as the affinity between S glycoprotein of COVID-19 virus and ACE2 is 10-20 fold higher compared to that of SARS-CoV and ACE2. Apart from the prevention methods used to control the spread of the COVID-19 disease, the review summarised the latest research progress on the current treatment advancement.

Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 10 ~ Issue 9

Abstract

Cockroach is one of the most important pests in urban communities. This study was conducted to determine the situation of cockroach infestation and the pathogen they harbor in hospitals around the urban area of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. A total of seven hospitals were visited during the study and sixty-seven cockroaches were collected. Four different species of cockroach were identified: Periplanata americana, Periplanata australasiae, Blatella germanica and Blatta orientalis. The most abundant species in the study area was Periplaneta americana and the location with the highest number of cockroaches was the toilet. The pathogens isolated from these cockroaches were: Salmonella typhimurium, Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeroginosa and Enterobacter aerogenes. Thus, it should be ensured that hospital environments are kept clean and tidy to prevent the high rate of cockroach infestation. Elimination of cockroaches in hospitals should be done through eco-friendly measures.

Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 10 ~ Issue 9

Abstract

This paper presents a study on the development of a temperature-controlled thermal refrigeration container to facilitate the transport of thermolabile drugs to remote places or places without access to medicines. Because of this, the project has as its problem the manufacture of a refrigerated thermos container with temperature control that can help the transportation of thermolabile drugs. Consequently, its objectives are: to study the materials and tools to complete such a task, as well as to design their operation through studies, and to utilize existing equipment from other operations. The methodology was modified as a polyurethane cooler, where we added a device to cool the container, a sensor for monitoring, and a power bank to power the refrigerators. The results obtained in the studies are valid, and we believe the project is viable, but we will only have concrete results after the prototype tests.

Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 10 ~ Issue 9

Abstract

This paper involves the areas of Mechanical Engineering and Assistive Technology (TA). The project consists of the purpose of uniting this theme with playful activity, promoting the inclusion of people with cerebral palsy at the crouch gait level. The need for adapted toys and how much they influence of child's social integration, playfulness, fun, and learning become of great importance to the development of a toy that becomes fits the needs of a child with cerebral palsy at crouch gait level. A physical therapist aided the research. A case study performed having the notion of a child's daily life with crouch gait. The theoretical foundation of this project were used as references: scientific articles, books, consultation with professionals in the field of mechanical engineering, physiotherapy, and assistive technology.........

Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 10 ~ Issue 9

Abstract

In this end – to – end application development, we will perform one of the most essential applications of machine learning – Consumer Segmentation. In this application project, we will implement consumer segmentation using machine learning algorithm. Whenever you need to find your best customer, consumer segmentation is the ideal methodology. In this machine learning project, discusses the background of consumer segmentation. Then we will explore the data upon which we will be building our segmentation model. Also, we will see the descriptive analysis of our data and then implement several versions of the K-means algorithm.

Research Inventy: International Journal of Engineering & Science , Volume 10 ~ Issue 9

Abstract

In the past few decades, there's been a massive increase in the number of Internet users, gadgets, and Internet connectivity-all around the world. These factors, combined with digital transformation in all industries worldwide and increasing utilization of bandwidth-demanding applications, have made significant contributions to the condition for the quicker and universal wireless network connection. To tackle these problems, the next-generation Wi-Fi needs to address the problem of low efficiency of the whole Wi-Fi network resulting from the access of more terminals. From 2014, the IEEE 802.11 working group started to address this challenge and anticipated to release 802.11ax also known as Wi-Fi 6 in 2019. Such a new standard is going to introduce technologies like uplink Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO), (OFDMA) Orthogonal frequency division...........
